Daniel Nine and Twenty Seven

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Daniel 9:27
Speculation exists among many that the prince which is spoken of in Daniel is not the Anti-Christ or his system but may be in fact the LORD Jesus Christ. Does Daniel give the answer for such a dilemma as the Churches have seemed to have created? I think so.

Whatever is meant by this verse it has a surety which is denoted by time, and the time given here is one week, which is either a seven day period or as the writer purposes a seven year period which would emphasize the Great Tribulation Period as many have spoken about in recent years. For obvious reasons, I will hold it to be a seven year time frame. The con-firmer of the covenant has two speculated factors and one is that of Christ Himself, which is generally viewed by those who do not agree with other interpretations concerning the Tribulation which is to come, but hold to the theory that it has occurred in the period following the event of the Crucifixion. The second theory is that this is actually an impostor who is confirming a covenant and he is actually the Anti-Christ. Whoever you hold him to be, he still institutes a time frame of seven years. So this one confirms with a people a covenant that is to last for a seven year time frame. So who is this covenant made unto, which people receive this covenant? In Daniel 9:24, we are given a clue as to whom this covenant is to be made:Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”
So like any good detective we should determine the,
Who - Thy people (of Daniel)
Where - Thy holy city (Jerusalem is the only holy city denoted by God)
When - Seventy weeks have been designated or determined
What - Finish transgression, end of sins, reconciliation, righteousness, seal up the vision and the prophecy, anoint the most Holy
How - End of sacrifice by the one supreme sacrifice - Jesus Christ
Now being armed with this evidence we can move a little farther, and just maybe, we can make a commitment to believe exactly what God is stating to our hearts rather than to our religions, as God should always be top ranked in any debate of truth, and Church, family, denomination, and religion should never be compared or twisted to fit any other view than that of God and His Word, after all, He will never inquire as to what denomination you are/were on earth, only what did you do with His Son, the Word. Has a flag appeared with what we have seen so far, has anything brought alarm to your thoughts and mind? In keeping with our theme of time consider, “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”
Seven weeks, threescore and two weeks or 69 weeks are determined until Messiah the Prince, which is equivalent to 69 weeks x 7 (days in a week) = 483 and if you subtract from the total of 7 x 70 = 490 - 483 = 7 which is the last week which Daniel is given in the verse we began with in Daniel 9:27. Did you notice the capitalized M in Messiah and that of the P in Prince, but look at the prince that shall come and the prince that shall confirm the covenant both are with lower case lettering. Notice also in the description of the Messiah the Prince no where in His profile does it state He will stop the sacrifice or the oblation, instead it states He will make an end of sins and make reconciliation for the sinner or the people of Daniel, and when Christ came this is what He did accomplish but if you notice that Paul and Peter kept the sacrificial and oblations which were the customs of the day, But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.” Acts 18:21 and Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.Acts 21:26 Peter: But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?Galatians 2:11-14 and the people of Israel kept the sacrifice in the Temple until it’s destruction in 70AD.
Now if we are to assume that the week was seven years which is indicated in several passages throughout the old and new testament as well in Daniel 9:27 so this one “prince” with the small “p” did not set up the sacrificial covenant and then cause it to stop in the midst of the week for if we conclude that Christ was crucified around 33AD, then that actually gives us around 37 years too late as 70AD - 33AD = 37 years. Now we must conclude at this point that either our understanding needs tweaking or God is inaccurate about the time frame or and of course, there is one more speculation we can venture and that is to declare anything that does not fit our religious doctrine falls under the term “Symbolic” and with this view we can go anywhere in the Bible and declare anything we do not understand or support doctrinally is an allegory or a picture. As an artist, you realize that whatever artwork you show to people will hold a different view from each beholder, especially so, if it is an abstract. And like the artwork the beholder declares what he/she views irregardless of what the artist has stated the picture really is, and this is the view of the “symbolist” he/she can make the Bible state anything they want it to state for there are no rules laid in this foundation of confusion, we do this today with the Constitution and the many “words” or interpretations of God’s Holy Word or Bible, it is confusion.

This is what must happen if we are to take the view of Daniel 9:27 as that of Christ, we must conclude it was not for Daniel’s people, his city, but it was actually for the Gentiles and this leads to much problematic research as we move into Revelation and Thessalonians. Daniel denoted the time as 69 weeks and the last week would mark the event of causing the sacrifice and oblation to cease. The one that caused it to cease is the one whom gave the covenant, however, we find in Christ an end of those things which were weighty and of the law and it is a sure thing that Christ never began the sacrifice when He came it was already in place, and Christ did not Stop the same after three and a half days or three and a half years, it actually continued after His death and resurrection for another 30+ years, so any “real” meaning and discernment must conclude this “one” this small “p” prince could not in any fashion or stretch be the Messiah but has to be the Anti-Christ and his seven year pact with Israel and guarantee of peace and safety. The only other discourse is to follow “symbolically” your own path and this was the exact nature Eve took upon her when she was told that she would be as “gods” knowing good and evil, but this goes a little farther with the symbolist as they could never discern good and evil or the distinction from good and evil. Eve was so caught up in this new “gods” thingee that she thought the child Cain came from the LORD. “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.” Genesis 4:1 so perhaps we should not be so hard on Eve especially if we too have mistakenly called the man of sin in Daniel 9:27 Jesus Christ, and it bears noting Christ never, not once, gave the command to destroy a temple or a city.
