Dave McGowan and his ignorance

Posted 31 Jul 2013 at 15:40 PM by Futtock

See this link for the McGowan quoted bits, the blogthispost didn't copy them over:-

If I get time, I shall highlight a few more of these ignorant writings of Dave McGowan. Some woeful conclusions, very poor research and just extremely wrong statements.

Here's a few:-

The "truth" is? Errrm no, Dave, that isn't the truth at all. That is what happened on Apollo 11 and only Apollo 11. Apollo 12 burned out the vidicon tube so had very little footage, Apollo 13 didn't land. Apollo 14 was a direct feed. Apollo 15/16/17 was remote controlled video from mission control and as LIVE as you could get!

Regarding the missing tapes. These were BACKUP tapes and were overwritten ONLY for Apollo 11.

Not too hot with the research is he:roll:

First landing took extra precaution with weight and lowered bandwidth on signal accordingly. Covered very thoroughly on this link:-

No Dave. Fail. As above, only Apollo 11 was transmitted this way.

No Dave - just Apollo 11.

That is opinion with nothing to substantiate it - "I suppose"

I see a pattern here. He makes a really poor research/understanding error, then runs off with it down a cul-de-sac. Wrong Dave, wrong. Only Apollo 11. The tapes were overwritten and they were BACKUP tapes from the slow scan TV and telemetry data.

He doesn't stop does he. By that same token, as can clearly be proven, Apollo 15/16/17 were as LIVE as you can get, with interaction between geologists(for example) and the astronauts. So it is "not hard to imagine" how it was NOT easy to fake!

Not for rocketry, just for portable Video cameras:roll:

Yeah, for Apollo 11 only!! But there are moments when speeding up x2 looks bizarre:-

The actual correct figure to account for the gravitational difference is 2.46 times, the square root of 9.8/1.62.

Maybe you might like to view this video and explain Dave?

Ok Dave, how about this one x2?

This is the "If I ran the Zoo" logical fallacy. Dave proposes messing about on the Moon, so that 40 years later, people who think the astronauts should have messed about on the Moon are satisfied. They went to do experiments, study and photograph the Moon. On very brief occasions they did find time to mess about(if anybody is bothered I'll give examples). And, so what?

Begging the question. See video above from Apollo 17.

How high could your guy jump when carrying a 180lb weight on his shoulders?(the astronauts had a life support weighing that). If you are going to compare a man on Earth to a man on the Moon compare their full weights and circumstances like for like. Did your man have a restrictive space suit on as well?

This is fun pointing out the McGowan fail.
