If one would set aside their religious titles (I am Catholic, I am LDS, I am Christian, I am Protestant, etc) and give this some thought.... Jesus performed "magic/k". How many times did it take him to heal the one blind gentleman? Twice (I'm going by memory here, so work with me). In my opinion, if Jesus was indeed all that and a ball of cheese, why wasn't this gentleman's sight restored immediately? He spat on the ground once, "mixed the mud", applied it as a compress to this man's eyes, then repeated it a second time before his sight was restored!

In my opinion on that, it should have only taken once, no matter how long this guy had been blind. But magic/k sometimes needs to be done more than once to be effective.

Now sit down Tocarm and put that damned bible away because I'm not interested. True, hold your tongue a second as well. And Jim, don't make me tie you to that tree over there. SOTL, I see you sneaking up behind me... have a seat too ;)

I didn't say this to try and disabuse anyone from their beliefs. I said it for the simple fact that this is how I believe.

One of the things about MOST religions today: You can't hold a "higher" office, if you don't have a penis. Pardon the crudeness, but that's the truth. In the LDS Faith, the "President / Prophet", as well as the Quorum of the Seventy, the General Authority, et al are all MEN. In the Catholic faith, the men are the priests / cardinals, et al. There are only 1 or 2 "main stream" religions that have women ministers.

In my opinion, that's utter bullshit. It goes back to some archaic idea that women aren't as good as men, and so on down the line. Feel free to disagree, but stop and think. How many women in your particular faith have held one of , if not the "highest" posts / offices? You could probably count them on your fist (meaning ZERO). I'm not saying this to scream "equality in everything" or because I'm a feminist (I hate those things), I'm only pointing out the obvious. There are a few exceptions, but they are so far and few between that it's not even funny.

It's one of the numerous reasons I'm no longer Baptist (Christian). I don't like it when people tell me I can't do something because I'm a woman. It makes me want to go out and do it just to prove you wrong. Now, there are things that I KNOW I can't do as a woman, there are branches in the military, etc that might be better suited for men. I also know that I am NOT the type of woman who would succeed in those situations. I'm a woman... not stupid.

And Tocarm, before you go off about the Virgin Mary and what not: She was MORTAL, that's it. She wasn't out there along side Jesus performing magic/k. You don't see that in the bible.

I do not willfully ignore secular history. In fact, it was my lifelong and deep study of this world's history that led me to the Truth of Jesus Christ.
Even while the apostles were traveling and preaching, there were many"Christian" leaders who were leading the flock astray.and Paul and Luke especially wrote about these people.There is no indication in the writings of the New Testament that the leaders in Rome were the repository of the truth.

Since you claim to know history, at what point did the Catholic Church begin torturing and murdering other Christians who would not bow down to their Pope? That truth alone should have anyone who believes the teachings of Jesus run screaming from the cathedrals.
So long as the Catholic church had complete control over the interpretation of the gospels, there were only Catholics and pagans, and they only killed pagans when they were in the way of expansion. There is very little difference between pagan beliefs and Catholic beliefs. In other words, the Catholic Church is really only concerned with challenges to their power, not the truth of Jesus Christ.

In fact, one of the most famous Catholic writers, a Jesuit priest,no less, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, has led countless Catholics, protestants,and new-agers down the slippery slope of paganism through his very popular writings.
This is why I ask that people study the teachings of Jesus, the actual source for ALL this nonsense (by nonsense I'm referring to flights of fancy loosely based on His teachings) and compare ALL else to His actual word.

I too, was raised something like Babtist (non-denominational) and left it all behind at the age of 13, because of the hypocrisy.

I followed a path similar to yours, all the while simply searching for truth, not just something to make me feel good about myself.

True: Yeah I was agreeing with you. I have been present for Baptist and Roman Catholic "Communion" as well as LDS "Sacrament". The only difference being:

Water v grape juice and probably crackers v bread. I did not partake in the Roman Catholic Communion because I didn't have the right (in my opinion) nor did I partake of the LDS Sacrament because I am Pagan. The Baptist Communion was purple grape juice and bread.

I have been present for Baptist and Roman Catholic "Communion" as well as LDS "Sacrament". The only difference being: Water v grape juice and probably crackers v bread. I did not partake in the Roman Catholic Communion because I didn't have the right (in my opinion) nor did I partake of the LDS Sacrament because I am Pagan. The Baptist Communion was purple grape juice and bread. Ta-da o_O
