In an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Newt Gingrich, the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, discussed his recent conversion to Catholicism, a key part of which was Pope Benedict’s April 2008 visit to Washington. In response to the question, “What is it about the Pope’s visit that led to this?” Gingrich replied, “I really believe, first of all, seeing the joy in his eyes, listening to his message, and I really believe that his basic statement, Christ our hope, is right.”

Gee when did they meet? On the 500th anniversay of King Henry 8th coronation, the English king who broke with the Roman Catholic Church and established the Church of England because he wanted to divorce.
