I grew up in a Roman Catholic family. Once I woke up to what goes on in the church apart from the pedophilia and sodomy among priests I began to question the religion and eventually self-excommunicated myself from it. One of my first and most important question was, what is with taking the body of Christ and eating it along with drinking the blood of Christ (symbolised by the bread and wine)? What significance does that have with being holy, being cannibalistic?

Like you Vel, I was brought up Catholic and went to Catholic schools growing up, over the years I no longer visited church and I am not a devoted practising catholic since my teens, if I wish to connect with God I don't need a church to prayer/speak/connect with him. God resides in all of us and we don't need to visit a church to worship him.
