Wow....a Catholic member? Man does that excite me!

Hi Martin! I want to start by stating that you are looking at a 31 year veteran of the Roman Catholic Church. (9 years removed now - praise God!) I was second to none with my defense of "The Church". I was a most serious, heavy duty magisterium Roman Catholic...no playin games here. I studied "why" I was Catholic - I listened to my priests, I listened to the pope (in fact followed him all over the world for the World Youth Days of the 90s), I stood up for the Catholic Church till I was blue in the face. If there was ANYTHING that would make me upset, was to hear somebody putting down....or a better word..."misunderstanding" Catholic doctrine.

Then...around the 27th year of my life and of my membership in the Catholic Church, God began to, very slowly, lift the veil that had brainwashed me for so long. No, seriously! I know that word sounds argumentative...or it sounds like I was "misled by satan" that something might be wrong with the Catholic Church. But I speak to you with a completely sound mind, standing strong in Jesus Christ...The Word of God.

The Lord began to open my eyes, and see things from a totally new perspective. I started to question things...yet when I asked the priests or other Catholic friends...I just didn't seem to get the answers I was looking for. One year - at the beginning of Lent - I picked up the Bible, and started to read...for the first time in my life. No - nobody told me "not" to read it - but nobody ever "encouraged" me to read it either. Once I started to read the Word...questions began to get answered. Because for the first time, I was learning straight from the Word of God - and not from any priest or other "man".

Long - very very long story short - 3 years later, I got engaged to an awesome man of God - and one week before the wedding, God Himself spoke to me - very gently - and let me know - I simply, didn't "have" to be Catholic. Can you see how much He spoke to me just with that tiny understanding? All the religiousness - all the vain babblings - all those forever rediculously long prayers - all the "holy days" - all the robes - all this Old Testament "living by the law" type stuff - we don't need it anymore! Praise God!! So, you see, He didn't tell me anything terrible about the Catholic Church - even tho the Vatican is an abomination (which He showed me later on) - He didn't insult anyone or anything about it - He simply said, "You don't have to." And He showed me, I would STILL be blessed! I would STILL be loved! And I would STILL be His child!! AMEN!!!

Why did I open with this? Because I wanted you to know that I come from where you are. I completely understand - seriously - where you are coming from - and why you defend the Catholic Church. Because I want you to know that when I tell you the things that are horribly wrong with it - that you KNOW that I already have the true knowledge and understanding of Catholocism - which is actually what brought me out. I am now a 150% follower of Jesus Christ! Praise GOD! ;)

So please - understand - I know on the surface, the Jesuits "look" like a great group of holy men who love God and serve and protect the Catholic Church. But please - seriously - hear my words - that is a lie from the pit of hell, and they truly, truly belong to satan. If you do some real serious open minded research, without the veil of Catholocism to block you - you WILL see it. But you have to "want" to see it. If all you want is to believe what the Vatican tells you to believe - you will never find the truth.

Anyhow - I don't have anymore time right now to write more - but I will add some more to this later when I get home.

Martin, I will sincerely pray that you allow Jesus to open your eyes, and lift that veil off of you, so you can truly find His Truth in all this.

-Kathy ;)

Thank you for sharing your testimony.

I wish that you actually did have a true knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ and His Church. Unfortunately, like some of his disciples in John 6, you've walked away from the Eucharist. Because the Eucharist is the sacrament in which Jesus gives himself completely to us – body, blood, soul and divinity.

Jesus shares with His disciples His most intimate possession, the most precious thing that He Has, His own self . . . So greatly does Jesus love His Community, that He permeates it . . . with His real Self, God and Man. He enters into a real union of flesh and blood with it, and binds it to His being even as the branch is bound to the vine.

If you truly understood THAT ... you would have never left.

Actually, I've read extensive volumes, numerous books by both Protestant and Catholics, which go into great detail about the Church throughout history. Like I said .... don't believe all the lies and distortions you might think are true.

Having said that, Our Lord foretold only too plainly that there would be chaff among the wheat, bad fish among the good, and that scandals must come. So long as the Church abides in this world, awaiting the coming of the Lord, her prayer will have to be, not only "Hallowed be thy Name, thy Kingdom come!" but also "Forgive us our trespasses, lead us not into temptation!"

the Eucharist,

isn't that where a priest performs an act of sorcery and changes a cracker into human flesh, and wine into human blood?

Ya, I saw that preformed on EWTN, after that they prayed to mary, the Queen Of Heaven.
Now I heard a chime ring during that, is that when they call "their" jesus into the wafer?

Well Martin - well believe what you will - but trust me - I have more knowledge of the Catholic church than you could ever know - but like I said - its your choice to listen or not. But just FYI - I did ask The Lord about leaving the eucharist - and here is the scripture He lead me to - the Holy Spirit fell on me so strong - and my heart just lept for joy to hear the Truth! Amen!

Ok - so "The Catholic Church" teaches this scripture to back up the eucharist...but they "only" reference this particular scripture....

John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

So one day I was reading this chapter, and looking to The Lord about the meaning, and how was it "ok" to leave the eucharist. Then I continued reading - I got to verse #68 and read, "Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." And the words in red, I think I read them 25 times, over and over and over. And the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, "I have the WORDS of eternal life." In other words...what Jesus meant when He spoke verse 54 was...His Word. Read His word every second you can - because He has the WORDS of eternal life! Its the WORDS that bring life - not that piece of bread and that sip of wine. AMEN!!

Now, do I expect that you will understand or see this revelation that came to my heart directly from The Lord? Not unless you open your heart and allow Him to show you.

So - I guess this is all I have to say...from here on out, I simply place you in God's hands, and pray that He can change your heart. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Kathy, that "voice" or "feeling" you heard or felt wasn't God .... but rather your own humanity .... or something from Hell.

His audience took Him literally and became angry. No where in the Gospels do the crowds become angry when Christ taught in parables. After John 6:60, Jesus was no longer speaking to the crowds but speaking privately with His disciples (Mark 4:34). Still, they understood Him as before and many left Him. This reaction would be quite inappropriate if Christ were merely speaking in parables. Christ instituted the Eucharist during the Last Supper (Matt 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-20).

Paul wrote to the Corinthians: "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?" (1 Cor. 10:16). So when we receive Communion, we actually participate in the body and blood of Christ, not just eat symbols of them. Paul also said, "Therefore whoever eats the bread and drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. . . . For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself" (1 Cor. 11:27, 29). "To answer for the body and blood" of someone meant to be guilty of a crime as serious as homicide. How could eating mere bread and wine "unworthily" be so serious? Paul’s comment makes sense only if the bread and wine became the real body and blood of Christ.

Kathy, I'll leave you a link to a Catholic site which helps explains the teachings of Christ as taught by the Catholic Church from the beginning.

Martin - 31 years of Catholic training in the Catacism & Catholic teachings - I think I got it. ;) But the doctrine in the Catacism is the reason I left. It's not Biblical. Yes, I know you quote scripture to back yourself up and wonder how I can say its not biblical, right? However, what I learned from the Word of God - was that the Catholic Church - quite literally - twists the meanings of the words on the page to fit their doctrine. See, all the stuff you quoted does not mean what you said it means - I know em all man - you are replying all the classic Catholic responses - I knew you would give all those scriptures and meanings as exact. They're the same ones I used to give. Problem is they are twisted meanings that the church tells you they mean. So, the only way to break out of that brainwashing is by revelation from the Holy Spirit. Hence - I come back to the same thing I said before...if you are "hell bent" on believing everything the Catachism teaches - everything the Vatican tells you to believe - well - no point in discussing it because you will never hear the truth.

Apparently not.

Herein lies the problem with Protestantism. There are some 30,000+ various denominations and sects ... each of which believes they are professing the true teaching of the Bible. Each believes the Holy spirit has guided their interpretation. Unfortunately, none of them are preaching the Gospel to it's fullness of truth. The Holy Spirit can not be an author of such confusion (1 Cor 14:33). The question is: Can YOU trace your tradition back to Jesus and his church, or a man-made one started more than a millenia after Pentecost?

Protestantism is so divided over central doctrinal issues (e.g. infant baptism, baptismal regeneration, the nature of justification, salvation, divorce and remarriage, etc.), that this "man of God" argument only begs the question. All Protestants believe that they've embraced the "correct" interpretation of Scripture, but doing so includes the implicit assertion that all the other denominations don't have the correct interpretation on all things. If they did, why the need for denominations?

In the year 434, Vincent of Lerins reflected on this problem: "If one should ask one of the heretics who gives you this advice, 'How do you prove [your assertion]? What ground have you for saying that I ought to cast away the universal and ancient faith of the Catholic Church? He has the answer ready: 'For it is written.' And forthwith he produces a thousand examples, a thousand authorities from the Law, from the Psalms, from the apostles, from the prophets, by means of which, interpreted on a new and wrong principle, the unhappy soul may be precipitated from the height of Catholic truth to the lowest abyss of heresy.... Do heretics appeal to Scripture? They do indeed, and with a vengeance. For you may see them scamper through every single book of Holy Scripture

.... Whether among their own people or among strangers, in private or in public, in speaking or in writing, at convivial meetings or in the streets, hardly ever do they bring forward anything of their own which they do not endeavor to shelter under the words of Scripture.... You will see an infinite heap of instances, hardly a single page, which does not bristle with plausible quotations from the New Testament or the Old" (Commonitoria 25,26,25).

May peace be with you.

Sorry...not a "Protestant", just a follower of Jesus Christ - I just love Jesus, walk with Him, live for Him, study His Word, and He is my everything - and I have a freedom that you can only experience when Jesus takes you over completely. So, I don't have any kind of "title". Just because I know most of the doctrines of the Catholic Church are abominations, doesn't make me "Protestant". lol So I guess nothing you just said above applies to me. ;)

Ummmmm...not thinking you can see inside my brain! hahahaha You just think "not", because I'm telling the truth, that you have allowed their brainwashing to control you completely.

When you get right down to the nitty gritty, you are either living in one world or the other, Love or Fear. Labels put us in either of those categories.

God rules with Love and Satan with fear.

Now look back in religious history and see who is living how and from whence their love or lack there of originates.

I think that we cannot make it anymore simple than that, Yeshua/Jesus born of flesh from God; Satan born of Spirit from God whom lives in confusion and chaos. Reading the Bible and understanding through the spirit will bring you to an understanding of who you are and where you are going.

The Kingdom of Heaven is within you.
Blessings
Megan
