New York City officials say a renewed search this year of debris in and around the World Trade Center site has recovered 72 human remains.

The sifting of more than 800 cubic yards (612 cubic meters) of debris recovered from ground zero and underneath roads around the lower Manhattan site began in April and ended Friday.

The greatest number of remains – 37 – were found from material underneath West Street, a highway on the west side of ground zero. The new debris was uncovered as construction work made new parts of the site accessible.

The city began a renewed search for human remains in 2006. More than 1,800 remains have been found.
Some have been matched to previously unidentified 9/11 victims.

Searchers in New York have found 72 human remains in the area around the World Trade Center site that was attacked on 9/11/2001. The remains have been there since the attack and some have been matched with previously unidentified victims of the 9/11 attack.

"In 2006 a new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center. 1 World Trade Center is currently under construction at the site and, at 1,776 ft (541 m) upon completion in 2013, it will become one of the tallest buildings in North America."

In New York 72 human remains have been found near the Twin Towers site. Some have been matched to previously unidentified remains.

They make it sound like they found the remains of 72 people.

They really say they found 72 unidentified bone fragments.

They could all be from the same person, or from frozen hams from the freezer at Windows on the World restaurant.

It could all simply be a lie as well which is my suspicion. The timing, well, tells me we struck some nerves. And the saying "Thou protesteth too much..." comes to mind AGAIN.

It's not the anniversary of 911, so why ARE they trotting these out now?

This whole story doesn't make any sense at all. They are purposely ambiguous about where the remains were found. And if they had really found such a trove of human remains, one must ask how this can be, after 9 years?

Also, besides the how can this be questions, whats missing here is the Coroners office coming to this construction site to excavate the site for human remains, until they were all found and accounted for, tagged & bagged.

This story has all the appearances of being fictional. If I didn't know better...

I was reading about Mark Bingham and, apparently his body was recovered in 2008. I'm wondering where it was. Seven years is a hell of a long time lapse. Does anyone know anything more about this? I am searching for more info but nothing so far.

There is actually no further need to debunk them. That work already been done here and in several places on the internet.

Notice that the center photograph has no context to it. We have no idea of the location (time or place) of this body. At least with the other two images there is a reference to the neighborhood in which they were taken. Some of the white lines look photoshopped so that they match up with the photo in the center. And what is that God awful artifact that runs through the right side of the image?

See map (below) to understand how far the body had supposedly flown through the air. It looks to be a woman who was run over by a truck or a bus.
